Writers Tears is a unique premium Irish whiskey produced by the Walsh Whiskey Distillery. It was acclaimed for its smooth, enjoyable and distinctive taste, and now I was being given the opportunity to see what all the fuss was about. Writers Tears is one of a handful of whiskeys in the world that is a marriage of both malt & pot still whiskey. This makes it slightly different from other Irish whiskeys, as they are usually just 100% malt or 100% pot still.

Taste Notes
Hoppy, citrusy, bitter. This IPA offers a bright hop aroma with hints of tropical fruits. The flavor is hop-forward, piney and resinous, with a solid malt backbone and strong bitterness.
- Palate: On the palate, it is smooth and creamy, with flavors of malt, caramel and a subtle sweetness. Vanilla and honey follow through from the nose, matched with soft fruitiness and a hint of nuts.
- Finish: The finish is smooth and mellow with a sweet maltiness that lingers on the tongue. A gentle spice comes in towards the end, but it’s not overpowering. It finishes cleanly.

- Writers Tears is a whiskey made of 100% Irish malt whiskey and triple distilled pot still whiskey and aged in American oak bourbon casks, which gives it a silky smooth mouthfeel.
